An Apocalypse of Skills

100% Recycled Paper and Ink, 2021

The word "Apocalypse" comes from the Greek word apokálypsis, literally meaning "an uncovering" and often used to mean the uncovering of knowledge. In religious contexts, this came to mean the disclosure of something of great importance, through divine means. This would often precede an Apocalypse as we use the term commonly nowadays - a great upheaval destroying life and civilization as we know it.

With this book, this collection, I attempt to reveal and preserve knowledge of the skills we humans have practiced and refined over the millennia. In our time - filled with both uncertainty and a move towards the mass-produced instead of the handmade, I hope this serves as a partial antidote to the less-desirable aspects of modern life.

This collection is limited by only being freely able to use works in the public domain, or licensed under a "Creative Commons" license, meaning a contemporary author or artist has chosen to relinquish some of their copyright, in order to promote the spread, adaptation, and remixing of their content.

This is a monumental undertaking, and I cannot claim to do it perfectly. I would greatly appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or donations of your work to this collection. I can be reached through the contact form of this website or through the email address included in An Apocalypse of Skills.

I can’t sell this work (and don’t want to).
